According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of California was 8.8% (sa) in November, 2008. Among all California counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Imperial (25.4%), Colusa (18.1%), and Alpine (15.6%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): Marin (5.3%), San Mateo (5.8%), and San Francisco (6.1%).
