According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of New Jersey was 5.8% (sa) in September, 2008. Among all New Jersey counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Cumberland (8%), Atlantic (6.9%), and Essex (6.9%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): Hunterdon (3.8%), Morris (4.1%), and Somerset (4.2%).
