According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of New Jersey was 5.9% (sa) in September, 2008. Among all New Jersey counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Cumberland (8.1%), Essex (7.1%), and Atlantic (7%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): Hunterdon (3.9%), Morris (4.2%), and Somerset (4.3%).
