US Number of Total Arrests By Population Group for Violent Crime Offenses in 2020

According to the FBI UCR data, in 2020, there were 338,443 total arrests made in the US for violent crime offenses. There were 267,047 total arrests made in All Cities; 54,143 total arrests made in Metropolitan Counties; 17,253 total arrests made in Nonmetropolitan Counties; and 97,976 total arrests made in Suburban Areas.

In terms of rate of arrests per 100K inhabitants, Group I - Cities had the highest (224.8), followed by Group II - Cities (191.1), and Total Cities (167.1).

  1. Group I - Cities: Cities with a population of 250,000 and over.
  2. Group II - Cities: Cities with a population of 100,000 to 249,999.

  5. Group V - Cities: Cities with a population of 10,000 to 24,999.
  6. Group VI - Cities: Cities with a population under 10,000.
