US Number of Total Arrests By Population Group for Violent Crime Offenses in 2023

According to the FBI UCR data, in 2023, there were 393,686 total arrests made in the US for violent crime offenses. There were 312,350 total arrests made in All Cities; 63,673 total arrests made in Metropolitan Counties; 17,663 total arrests made in Nonmetropolitan Counties; and 112,747 total arrests made in Suburban Areas.

In terms of rate of arrests per 100K inhabitants, Group I - Cities had the highest (237.4), followed by Total Cities (157.3), and Group II - Cities (152.8).

  5. Group V - Cities: Cities with a population of 10,000 to 24,999.
  6. Group VI - Cities: Cities with a population under 10,000.
