Based on the US Census Bureau's special tabulation from the ACS 5-year estimates, in 2012, the citizen voting-age population for South Dakota was 602,610 and represented 73.86% of the total South Dakota population.

Among all South Dakota counties, Minnehaha had the highest citizen voting-age population (122.81K), followed by Pennington (75.37K), and Lincoln (31.53K).

In terms of percentages, Fall River had the highest percentage of its population being citizens of voting-age (81.58%), followed by Potter (80.43%), and Custer (80.11%).
