Based on the US Census Bureau's special tabulation from the ACS 5-year estimates, in 2017, the citizen voting-age population for South Dakota was 629,705 and represented 73.61% of the total South Dakota population.

Among all South Dakota counties, Minnehaha had the highest citizen voting-age population (131.31K), followed by Pennington (81.30K), and Lincoln (37.32K).

In terms of percentages, Jones had the highest percentage of its population being citizens of voting-age (83.11%), followed by Custer (81.93%), and Bon Homme (81.28%).
