Based on the US Census Bureau's special tabulation from the ACS 5-year estimates, in 2021, the citizen population for New Mexico was 1,999,940 and represented 94.81% of the total New Mexico population.

Among all New Mexico counties, Bernalillo had the highest citizen population (639.07K), followed by Do�a Ana (199.95K), and Sandoval (144.57K).

In terms of percentages, De Baca had the highest percentage of its population being citizens (99.73%), followed by Mora (99.41%), and Quay (98.79%).
