Based on the US Census Bureau's special tabulation from the ACS 5-year estimates, in 2024, the citizen population for New Mexico was 2,007,306 and represented 94.67% of the total New Mexico population.

Among all New Mexico counties, Bernalillo had the highest citizen population (636.75K), followed by Doña Ana (206.59K), and Sandoval (149.63K).

In terms of percentages, Harding had the highest percentage of its population being citizens (100.00%), followed by De Baca (99.75%), and Quay (99.53%).
