Based on the US Census Bureau's special tabulation from the ACS 5-year estimates, in 2021, the citizen population for New York was 18,252,640 and represented 90.74% of the total New York population.

Among all New York counties, Kings had the highest citizen population (2.35M), followed by Queens (1.93M), and New York (1.45M).

In terms of percentages, Hamilton had the highest percentage of its population being citizens (99.80%), followed by Yates (99.56%), and Cattaraugus (99.55%).
