Based on the US Census Bureau's special tabulation from the ACS 5-year estimates, in 2024, the citizen population for New York was 18,020,157 and represented 90.77% of the total New York population.

Among all New York counties, Kings had the highest citizen population (2.27M), followed by Queens (1.87M), and Suffolk (1.42M).
