Based on the US Census Bureau's special tabulation from the ACS 5-year estimates, in 2023, the Illinois citizen population was 11.83M. The Non-Hispanic White Alone ethnicity group had the highest citizen population (7.40M) and constituted 62.58% of the total. The Hispanic or Latino of All Races ethnicity group had the second highest citizen population (1.88M) and constituted 15.91% of the total. The Non-Hispanic Black or African American Alone ethnicity group had the third highest (1.69M), constituting 14.31% of the total citizen population.
