Based on the US Census Bureau's special tabulation from the ACS 5-year estimates, in 2024, the Illinois citizen population was 11.80M. The Non-Hispanic White Alone ethnicity group had the highest citizen population (7.34M) and constituted 62.16% of the total. The Hispanic or Latino of All Races ethnicity group had the second highest citizen population (1.90M) and constituted 16.09% of the total. The Non-Hispanic Black or African American Alone ethnicity group had the third highest (1.67M), constituting 14.14% of the total citizen population.
