Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2023, the Black or African American Alone population in Connecticut was 473,626 and represented 13.09% of the total Connecticut population (3,617,176).

Among Connecticut counties, Capitol Planning Region had the highest number of people who identified as Black or African American Alone (145,796), followed by South Central Connecticut Planning Region (93,143), and Western Connecticut Planning Region (76,693). Northeastern Connecticut Planning Region had the lowest (2,562).
