According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, as at April 2020, there were 100,886 people who identified as Non-Hispanic - American Indian and Alaska Native Alone in North Carolina, which was 0.97% of the total North Carolina population.

Robeson County had the highest number of people who identified as Non-Hispanic - American Indian and Alaska Native Alone (43,536), followed by Cumberland County (4,647), and Swain County (4,030). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identified as Non-Hispanic - American Indian and Alaska Native Alone were: Tyrrell County (5), Hyde County (7), and Washington County (15).
