According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, as at April 2020, the voting-age population of people who identified as Non-Hispanic - American Indian and Alaska Native Alone in South Dakota was 47,084; and represented 7.04% of the total South Dakota voting-age population.

Oglala Lakota County had the highest number of people who identified as Non-Hispanic - American Indian and Alaska Native Alone (7,801), followed by Pennington County (7,148), and Todd County (4,789). On the other hand, the three counties with low Non-Hispanic - American Indian and Alaska Native Alone voting-age population were: Hanson County (3), Sully County (4), and Miner County (5).
