Louisiana Black or African American Alone Voting-age Population By County in Census 2020

According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, as at April 2020, among all the Louisiana voting-age population (18 years and over), there were 1,073,754 people who identified their race as Black or African American Alone, which is 30.07% of the total voting-age population of Louisiana.

Orleans Parish had the highest number of Black or African American Alone voting-age population (158,350), followed by East Baton Rouge Parish (152,669), and Jefferson Parish (87,526).

On the other hand, the three counties with low number of Black or African American Alone voting-age population were: Cameron Parish (51), West Carroll Parish (988), and LaSalle Parish (1,024).

In terms of the percentage of each county's voting-age population, East Carroll Parish had the highest percentage, with 67.43% of its voting-age population identifying their race as Black or African American Alone, followed by Madison Parish (58.13%), and St. John the Baptist Parish (55.10%).
