West Virginia Black or African American Alone Voting-age Population By County in Census 2020

According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, as at April 2020, among all the West Virginia voting-age population (18 years and over), there were 52,688 people who identified their race as Black or African American Alone, which is 3.68% of the total voting-age population of West Virginia.

Kanawha County had the highest number of Black or African American Alone voting-age population (10,518), followed by Berkeley County (7,163), and Raleigh County (4,770).

On the other hand, the three counties with low number of Black or African American Alone voting-age population were: Wirt County (0), Tyler County (1), and Tucker County (4).

In terms of the percentage of each county's voting-age population, Gilmer County had the highest percentage, with 14.87% of its voting-age population identifying their race as Black or African American Alone, followed by McDowell County (12.22%), and Raleigh County (8.07%).
