According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2018, the death rate for New Mexico was 8.98. Sierra County had the highest death rate (25.03), followed by Quay County (17.1), and Hidalgo County (15.46). On the other hand, Lea County had the lowest death rate (7.3), followed by Doña Ana County (7.49), and Los Alamos County (7.73).
