According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2012, the death rate for the United States was 8. West Virginia had the highest death rate (11.58), followed by Arkansas (10.08), and Alabama (10.06). On the other hand, Alaska had the lowest death rate (5.4), followed by Utah (5.46), and Colorado (6.34).
Death Rate refers to the average annual number of deaths during a year per 1,000 population at midyear.
