According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2022, the death rate for the United States was 10.39. West Virginia had the highest death rate (16.86), followed by Mississippi (13.84), and Kentucky (13.62). On the other hand, Utah had the lowest death rate (6.96), followed by California (8.14), and District of Columbia (8.32).

Death Rate refers to the average annual number of deaths during a year per 1,000 population at midyear.
