Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2016, there were 480,446 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Massachusetts and they represented 7.04% of the total population of Massachusetts in 2016. Suffolk County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (164,249), followed by Middlesex County (80,989), and Plymouth County (51,444).
