United States Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone Population By State in 2016

Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2016, there were 40,245,438 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in the United States and they represented 12.46% of the total US population in 2016.

Texas had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (3,315,481), followed by Florida (3,213,462), and Georgia (3,212,732). On the other hand, Montana had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (5,294) followed by Wyoming (6,291), and Vermont (7,392).

When it comes to the percentage of each state's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, District of Columbia had the highest percentage (46.22%), followed by Mississippi (37.39%), and Louisiana (32.16%).
