United States Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone Population By State in 2020

Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2020, there were 41,737,491 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in the United States and they represented 12.59% of the total US population in 2020.

Texas had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (3,578,022), followed by Georgia (3,416,509), and Florida (3,364,050). On the other hand, Montana had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (5,875) followed by Wyoming (5,966), and Vermont (8,438).

When it comes to the percentage of each state's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, District of Columbia had the highest percentage (44.40%), followed by Mississippi (37.50%), and Louisiana (32.29%).
