United States Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone Population By State in 2020

Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2020, there were 41,717,266 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in the United States and they represented 12.58% of the total US population in 2020.

Texas had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (3,618,323), followed by Georgia (3,410,223), and Florida (3,374,615). On the other hand, Montana had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (5,872) followed by Wyoming (5,948), and Vermont (8,390).

When it comes to the percentage of each state's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, District of Columbia had the highest percentage (44.45%), followed by Mississippi (37.54%), and Louisiana (31.90%).
