United States Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone Population By State in 2022

Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2022, there were 42,070,471 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in the United States and they represented 12.62% of the total US population in 2022.

Texas had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (3,741,618), followed by Georgia (3,502,283), and Florida (3,429,201). On the other hand, Wyoming had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (6,004) followed by Montana (6,205), and Vermont (9,071).

When it comes to the percentage of each state's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, District of Columbia had the highest percentage (43.36%), followed by Mississippi (37.37%), and Louisiana (32.19%).
