United States Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone Population By State in 2022

Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2022, there were 42,047,680 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in the United States and they represented 12.62% of the total US population in 2022.

Texas had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (3,781,060), followed by Georgia (3,495,737), and Florida (3,438,178). On the other hand, Wyoming had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (5,995) followed by Montana (6,146), and Vermont (9,102).

When it comes to the percentage of each state's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, District of Columbia had the highest percentage (43.34%), followed by Mississippi (37.42%), and Georgia (32.03%).
