Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2022, there were 1,664,108 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Virginia and they represented 19.16% of the total population of Virginia in 2022. Fairfax County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (115,498), followed by Henrico County (100,157), and Richmond city (99,828). On the other hand, Highland County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (23), followed by Craig County (25), and Dickenson County (78).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, Petersburg city had the highest percentage (75.68%), followed by Emporia city (63.66%), and Greensville County (59.41%).
