Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2011, there were 1,544,560 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Virginia and they represented 19.06% of the total population of Virginia in 2011. Richmond city had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (103,816), followed by Norfolk city (102,608), and Fairfax County (99,825). On the other hand, Craig County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (5), followed by Highland County (10), and Dickenson County (56).
