United States Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone Population By State in 2021

Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2021, there were 41,859,278 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in the United States and they represented 12.61% of the total US population in 2021.

Texas had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (3,646,569), followed by Georgia (3,443,551), and Florida (3,387,530). On the other hand, Wyoming had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (5,961) followed by Montana (6,134), and Vermont (8,684).

When it comes to the percentage of each state's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, District of Columbia had the highest percentage (44.03%), followed by Mississippi (37.46%), and Louisiana (32.28%).
