United States Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone Population By State in 2021

Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2021, there were 41,840,240 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in the United States and they represented 12.60% of the total US population in 2021.

Texas had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (3,687,259), followed by Georgia (3,437,034), and Florida (3,397,033). On the other hand, Wyoming had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (5,922) followed by Montana (6,101), and Vermont (8,663).

When it comes to the percentage of each state's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, District of Columbia had the highest percentage (44.07%), followed by Mississippi (37.50%), and Louisiana (31.93%).
