Alaska Net Migration By County in 2012

According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2012, the net migration for Alaska was 1,158. Matanuska-Susitna Borough had the highest net migration (1,159) followed by Fairbanks North Star Borough (1,032), and Kenai Peninsula Borough (241). On the other hand, Anchorage Borough had the lowest net migration (-980), followed by Nome Borough (-135), and Northwest Arctic Borough (-127).

Net migration for a county refers to the difference between the number of migrants, both domestic and international, moving to the county and those leaving the county. Or to put it simply, the net migration for a given county is the inbound migration minus the outbound migration for that county.
