According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2016, the net migration for Mississippi was -6,431. Rankin County had the highest net migration (1,905) followed by DeSoto County (1,673), and Madison County (1,051). On the other hand, Hinds County had the lowest net migration (-3,105), followed by Lauderdale County (-1,121), and Washington County (-872).
Net migration for a county refers to the difference between the number of migrants, both domestic and international, moving to the county and those leaving the county. Or to put it simply, the net migration for a given county is the inbound migration minus the outbound migration for that county.
