According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2012, the net migration for West Virginia was 1,795. Monongalia County had the highest net migration (1,500) followed by Berkeley County (832), and Putnam County (341). On the other hand, Mingo County had the lowest net migration (-429), followed by McDowell County (-294), and Wayne County (-243).

Net migration for a county refers to the difference between the number of migrants, both domestic and international, moving to the county and those leaving the county. Or to put it simply, the net migration for a given county is the inbound migration minus the outbound migration for that county.
