According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2012, the net domestic migration for West Virginia was 662. Monongalia County had the highest net domestic migration (1,117) followed by Berkeley County (781), and Putnam County (312). On the other hand, Mingo County had the lowest net domestic migration (-431), followed by McDowell County (-299), and Wayne County (-253).

Net Domestic Migration for a given county refers to the the difference between number of people moving to the county from other parts of the United States (excluding Puerto Rico) and number of people moving out of the county to other parts of the United States (excluding Puerto Rico).
