United States Net Migration By State in 2013

According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2013, the net migration for the United States was 849,728. Florida had the highest net migration (217,007), followed by Texas (187,189), and California (60,138). On the other hand, Illinois had the lowest net migration -40,267, followed by New York (-34,500), and New Jersey (-18,839).

Net migration for a state refers to the difference between the number of migrants, both domestic and international, moving to the state and those leaving the state. Or to put it simply, the net migration for a given state is the inbound migration minus the outbound migration for that state.
