Based on data from the CDC, the overall number of fatal drug overdose deaths involving Illegally-made Fentanyls in the US in 2020 was 33,694, and the age adjusted rate per 100,000 persons was 21.9. These overall values was based on data from 34 jurisdictions (i.e. states and DC).

Among all states with data, Ohio had the highest number of fatal drug overdose deaths involving Illegally-made Fentanyls (4,200), followed by Pennsylvania (4,016), New Jersey (2,395), and Maryland (2,345).

In terms of the age-adjusted rate of fatal drug overdose deaths involving Illegally-made Fentanyls per 100K persons, West Virginia had the highest (60.9), followed by Delaware (40), and Maryland (38.7).
