On 7/26/2021 at approximately 1:10 pm while performing the Humane Handling Verification Task under HATS Category 8 at Summit Meat Processing M48210, an ineffective initial shot was delivered with a pistol which did not render the animal insensible to pain. SVMO REDACTED after hearing the first shot, entered the slaughter floor and heard conscious vocalization of the hog. The stunner took a second immediate and effective shot with the same firearm which rendered the animal insensible, and it remained so thereafter. The chute was rejected with tag number B985770 and establishment manager REDACTED was notified of the non-compliance.
