HATS Category III: Water and Feed Availability On June 24, 2025, at Kentucky Meat Smith, LLC, Est. M48210, while performing the livestock humane handling task, I, CSI REDACTED observed the following: pen #0 and pen #3 each containing 3 hogs that had been delivered the day before, there was no water in the buckets that were in the pens. I informed REDACTED the pen/barn manager of the findings and of the documentation of the noncompliance with 9CFR313.2(e). Plant personnel promptly made water available to the animals.

HATS Category VIII: Stunning Effectiveness On June 24, 2025, at Kentucky Meat Smith, M48210, at approximately 11:08, while performing the Livestock Humane Handling task, the following was observed by CSI REDACTED. The stun operator delivered an initial stun attempt to a swine with a shotgun using .410 slug ammunition. Once the shot was heard, CSI REDACTED heard the hog vocalize and upon entering the room the animal was standing and had a bleeding wound on its head. CSI REDACTED retreated from the room, and the stun operator delivered an immediate and effective corrective action stun with the same firearm, rendering the animal insensible and it remained so thereafter. CSI REDACTED applied USDA Reject tag B-31985791 to the knock box and establishment owner Mr. REDACTED was notified of the noncompliance and of the regulatory control action taken.

HATS Category VIII: Stunning Effectiveness On 5/27/25, approximately 10:50am, while performing the Livestock Humane Handling verification task, at Kentucky Meat Smith Est. #48210, the following was observed by CSI REDACTED. The stun operator delivered an initial stun attempt to a goat, with a 410 firearm and slug ammunition. Once the shot was heard, CSI REDACTED came into the slaughter floor, to observe the goat standing, vocalizing, and bleeding from the head. The CSI retreated outside the door, and the stun operator delivered an immediate and effective corrective action stun with the same firearm, rendering the animal insensible, and it remained so thereafter. The USDA CSI applied reject tag #B-31989067 to the knock box and establishment owner Mr. REDACTED was notified of the non-compliance and of the regulatory control action.
