Inspection Category: Routine
NR Number: ZEN5412050816N-1
Non-Compliance Regulations:

313.1

Non-Compliance Description:

At approx. 0635 hour while attempting to conduct Antemortem I, CSI REDACTED III observed the following Non-Compliance. Large amount of fecal and urine throughout the livestock pen areas were observed. This fecal and urine was found to be in Pen #2 which is, the basement leading up the ramp way to the exit door. This could be due to the live in goat used for leading animals. This indicated that no monitoring was conducted for 5 consecutive days due to non kill from May 11, 2022-May 15, 2022.  Cleanliness of the livestock pens daily is very important. This Fecal and urine combined causes a muddy material which makes it very slippery for animals. Animals should be free from slips and falls as well as poor living conditions. Per regulation 313.1 Floors of livestock pens, ramps, and driveways shall be constructed and maintained so as to provide good footing for livestock. Slip resistant or waffled floor surfaces, cleated ramps and the use of sand, as appropriate, during winter months are examples of acceptable construction and maintenance. REDACTED was informed of this non-compliance.

Non-Compliance Description:

At approx. 0640 hour while attempting to conduct Antemortem I, CSI REDACTED III observed the following Non-Compliance. Large amount of fecal and urine throughout the livestock pen areas were observed. As well as blood left from the previous days kill which involved a suspect animal. This animal was inspected by the Vet(suspect animal was condemned), and put down by the establishment with a captive bolt . This indicates no cleaning was conducted before the start up of the new day slaughter. This NR is to also document the conditions into which the live in goat is receiving. I observed that the Goat itself is using it feeding ben as a resting and/or sleeping area due to the temp of the barn. Fecal was also found around and/in the feed ben. Cleanliness of the livestock pens daily is very important. This Fecal and urine combined causes a muddy material which makes it very slippery for animals. Animals should be free from slips and falls as well as poor living conditions. Per regulation 313.1 (b) Floors of livestock pens, ramps, and driveways shall be constructed and maintained so as to provide good footing for livestock. Slip resistant or waffled floor surfaces, cleated ramps and the use of sand, as appropriate, during winter months are examples of acceptable construction and maintenance.  REDACTED was informed of this non-compliance.
