Non-Compliance Description:

On 09/14/2022 at 1:12 P.M., While I was performing my humane handling, I observed the following non-compliance. When they stunned the animal, I observed that the head was not secured prior to stunning and the animal was very excited. Company employee failed to properly stun the animal on first knock causing the animal undue stress and pain. The animal was bellowing in pain and struggling prior to the second knock. They promptly stunned it again rendering it unconscious within 30 seconds of the first knock. I stopped the kill and a placed U.S. Retain Tag No. B27672181 at 1:12 P.M. on the knock box. I notified the plant manager REDACTED of the non-compliance and contacted my immediate supervisor Dr. REDACTED of the incident. After speaking with my supervisor at 1:14 P.M. I released the knock box at 1:20 P.M. I then notified plant manager REDACTED that this was a failure of CFR 313.15(a)(1) and a noncompliance would be issued.
