On Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 7:00 a.m. while IIC REDACTED was performing a Humane Handling task, in cooperation with USDA Veterinarian Dr. REDACTED and SCMPID Veterinarian Dr. REDACTED, the following noncompliance was observed; The wood of the animal loading ramp flooring is deteriorated and has broken through on one side, leaving a hole that could be injurious to animals. There is wire mesh placed on top of the loading ramp flooring that is unattached and bent, creating a hazard that could be injurious to animals. Regulatory control action was taken and U.S. retained tag# B37050240 was placed on the animal loading ramp. Management was notified of the noncompliance at inspection.

On Monday, April 4th, 2022 at 8:30 a.m., while performing Humane Handling Verification, SCMPID Area veterinarian, Dr. REDACTED, and IIC REDACTED, observed the following noncompliance. Establishment personnel failed to effectively produce immediate unconsciousness in a market swine that was stunned with a .22 gauge rifle bullet. After the initial stun attempt, the animal remained standing and vocalized. Regulatory control action was not taken because the establishment employee took immediate corrective actions by effectively stunning the swine with a subsequent shot from the rifle which produced immediate unconsciousness. Management was notified of the noncompliance at inspection.
