HATS Category VIII - Stunning Effectiveness On February 08, 2023, at approximately 9:20 am while performing the Humane Handling Task, I observed an incident in which a single shot with a .357/.38 rifle using a .38 special round delivered to a market swine did not produce immediate insensibility. The hog remained alert and standing, vocalizing once. After repositioning for safety, the establishment employee delivered immediate and effective corrective actions, using the same rifle, rendering the animal insensible, and it remained so thereafter. The knock box was rejected using US Retain/Reject tag #B23838992 and Mr. REDACTED, establishment manager/owner, and Mr. REDACTED, establishment supervisor, were notified of the non-compliance and of the regulatory control action.
