HATS Category VIII - Stunning Effectiveness On May 7, 2025, at approximately 0720, while performing the Livestock Humane Handling Verification Task, an establishment employee moved a large swine into the knock box but was unable to fully restrain. The initial stun attempt with a .357 (handgun) firearm was observed to contact the animal, but was ineffective, as the animal remained alert and standing. The stun operator repositioned and delivered an immediate and effective corrective action stun, with the same firearm, rendering the animal insensible, and it remained so thereafter. The knock box was rejected using US Retain/Reject tag #B37063900, and Mr. REDACTED, establishment manager/owner, and Mr. REDACTED, establishment supervisor, were notified of the non-compliance, and of the regulatory control action.
