Non-Compliance Description:

On February 14th, 2023 at Neese’s Country Sausage (TA-8341), IIC observed the following non-compliance while verifying compliance with HATS Category VII: Observation for Slips & Falls. IIC observed that the hogs (Inside of Pen 8) where having a hard time getting up and standing due to an excessive amount of wet fecal material inside of pen 8 causing them to slip and fall during the process of moving them up the alleyway to get slaughtered. Regulatory control action was taken by placing a USDA Rejected tag (NO. B41891458) on the outside of the pen door of pen 8. The USDA tag will remain in place until corrective actions are met. Plant manager, REDACTED were notified of the failure to comply with 9 CFR 313.1.(b)
