Non-Compliance Description:

On 6/27/24, at approximately 11:30 am, at Neese Country Sausage TA-8341, while verifying HATS Category VI (Electric Prod/Alternative Object Use), the following non-compliance was observed in the holding pen, outside the stunning area. IPP observed 2 plant employees attempting to run a Sow into the stunning area. After unsuccessful attempting to get the Sow into the establishment using only a push board, one employee then moved to the front of the Sow and grabbed both ears in an attempt to pull the sow into the establishment. When the employee grabbed the Sows ears, it started to vocalize. IPP immediately stopped the plant employee before the animal could be pulled and notified him that he could not pull the Sow into the establishment. The plant employee then released the Sow and used an electric prod twice to successful get the Sow into the stunning area. REDACTED, Plant Manager, was notified of the non-compliance and the plants failure to comply with 9 CFR 313.30(a)(2).
