313.2
On Tuesday, December 27th, 2022 at approximately 10:30 AM while performing the Hats Category III (Water and Feed Availability) check, CSI REDACTED observed the following noncompliance. Approximately 40 cattle had already been unloaded into the pens. Each trough had a solid block of ice present, with no thawed water available for the cattle to drink. CSI REDACTED observed a cow in the pen closest to the main entrance stepping on and pawing at the ice trying to break it. The ice was so thick that it did not even crack. This is noncompliant with 9 CFR 313.2(e). The employee, REDACTED, who unloaded the cattle was notified verbally of this noncompliance. This NR serves as written notification for the plant.
