Non-Compliance Description:

On 3-5-24 while observing the unloading of a swine livestock trailer, I observed a pig trying to get a drink from the floor water spigot locating inside the pen. I noticed that no water was coming out of the spigot. Upon further observations I noticed the water valves to all floor spigots located inside the pens were turned off and no water was coming out the floor spigots. During more observations of the livestock pens holding the pigs I noticed that they had no water available in any of the pens holding pigs. There were portable water troughs in the pens, but they were all empty. I immediately halted slaughter operations and had Team Members place water buckets in all the pens where any livestock were being held. There was 1 cattle water trough that is completely broken off its base that is not allowing the establishment to turn on the water lines to any of the pens without running on to the floor continuously. Est 13276. is not in compliance with 9CFR 313.2; Handling of Livestock. QA Coordinator REDACTED was verbally informed that a Noncompliance Record would be issued for the defective floor water spigots and the broken self-filling cattle water trough in the livestock pens.
