HATS Category #8 On July 11th, 2024 at approximately 1100 hours, after attempting to stun a bull by gunshot, the bull did not vocalize but stood back up in the kill shoot area. The employee immediately took corrective action by notifying that he was going to take a second shot on the animal and then he discharged the second shot of the firearm. The animal was rendered unconscious after the second discharge of the firearm. This noncompliance fails to meet regulatory requirements of 9 CFR 313.16(a)(1).

HATS Category #8 On January 25th, 2024 at approximately 0915, a beef cow was not rendered unconscious by the first gunshot. The cow did not vocalize and continued to stand. The employee immediately took corrective action by notifying that he was going to take a second shot, and then discharging a second shot of the firearm. The animal was rendered unconscious after the second discharge of the firearm. REDACTED was notified of the noncompliance. HATS Category #8 On December 5th, 2023 at approximately 1115, I, REDACTED, observed the following noncompliance: A market swine was not rendered unconscious by the first gunshot. The shot hit the left ear, and the swine exited the kill chute via the head gate for cattle. The swine did not vocalize. The employee immediately took corrective action by getting the animal in proper restraint and discharging a second shot of the firearm. The animal was rendered unconscious after the second discharge of the firearm. REDACTED was notified of the noncompliance. This noncompliance fails to meet regulatory requirements of 9 CFR 313.16(a)(1).

HATS Category #8 On October 2nd, 2023 at approximately 0930, while performing the Humane Handling Verification task, I observed REDACTED discharge the firearm on the 7th out of 10 lambs. The lamb dropped to the ground, but the first shot was ineffective, and the lamb stood back up. The lamb was not vocalizing or kicking. The employee immediately took corrective action by verbally notifying that he was going to take a second "security" shot on the animal. The animal was rendered unconscious after the second discharge of the firearm. This noncompliance fails to meet regulatory requirements of 9 CFR 313.16(a)(1).
