Non-Compliance Description:

On Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at approximately 1020 hours, while performing HATS Category IV Ante-mortem Inspection, I, CSI REDACTED observed the following noncompliance: I observed that approximately six feet of the alleyway immediately leading to the establishment was covered with bright red blood. Upon further investigation, I observed at the bottom left corner, right before animals enter the establishment, a sharp metal sheet pointing outward into the alleyway. There was a steer in the alleyway, but I did not observe active bleeding. Manager REDACTED was informed of my findings and the forthcoming noncompliance at approximately 1025 hours. Mr. REDACTED took immediate corrective action by hammering the metal sheet in and a maintenance mechanic put three screws in to hold it in place. My findings are a noncompliance with the regulatory requirements of 9 CFR 313.1(a).
