Non-Compliance Description:

HATS Category II Truck Unloading On March 31, 2025 at approximately 0910 HRS while conducting Truck Unloading verification activities, the following noncompliance was observed. Two beef animals were being driven from the trailer to the barn alleyway for entry into Pen 4. During driving, one animal turned and forced its way past the trailer door blocking the space between the trailer and barn, which released the two animals into the barnyard. The incident caused livestock to experience excessive excitement and discomfort as they were forced to move faster than normal walking speed while employees worked to corral and regain their capture. These observations verify noncompliance of 9 CFR 313.2(a). Mr. REDACTED, establishment owner, was notified visually of this noncompliance and verbally of the Noncompliance Record to be issued. The establishment does not operate under a Systematic Approach to Humane Handling and Slaughter program. It was requested of Mr. REDACTED that he take the necessary steps to prevent a recurrence. A 90-day review of PHIS shows no other noncompliance of similar cause.
