According to the World Bank's population estimates, there were 1,026,671,474 people living on the African continent in 2009. The chart and table below shows the population estimate for each African country based on data from the World Bank.

Nigeria was the most populated country (156,595,758), followed by Ethiopia (86,755,585), and then Egypt (85,501,064). Seychelles was the least populated country with a population of 87,298.
