According to data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average weekly wage for the United States in 2006 Q2 was $784. Among all US states and DC, District of Columbia had the highest average weekly wage ($1,301), followed by Connecticut ($971), and New York ($963).

On the other hand, South Dakota had the lowest average weekly wage ($563), followed by Montana ($575), and Mississippi ($588).
