Based on the US Census Bureau's special tabulation from the ACS 5-year estimates, in 2011, the Non-Hispanic Black Alone citizen population for North Carolina was 1,234,325 and represented 13.83% of the total North Carolina citizen population.

Among all North Carolina counties, Mecklenburg had the highest Non-Hispanic Black Alone citizen population (264.62K), followed by Wake (174.16K), and Guilford (150.44K).

In terms of percentages, Bertie had the highest percentage of its citizen population being Non-Hispanic Black Alone (63.10%), followed by Hertford (59.93%), and Edgecombe (58.30%).
